Boekbesprekingen Unwanted effects of cosmetics and drugs used in dermatology
Contact dermatitis 1985;13:45
The first edition of this book was deservedly given an extremely favourable review in this journal in 1983 (no. 4). For this 2nd edition, praise can only be heaped upon praise. Its winning format has been given a larger page size. The text has conscientiously been updated and 800 new references have been added. …..To have produced this 2nd edition only 2 years after the first is not only a prodigious feat, but has also proved to be a worthwhile endeavour. No dermatologist should allow himself to be without ready access to the latest edition of this brilliant encyclopaedia.
British Journal of Dermatology 1985;113:375
The first edition of this book was published in 1983 and received an enthusiastic review in the British Journal of Dermatology (Volume 109, p. 128). In order to keep the work up-to-date the authors have now completely revised and updated their text, and have produced a new and enlarged second edition 2 years after publication of the original volume…… Although expensive, this book is a mine of information and is a 'must' for the departmental library of any dermatologist interested in contact dermatitis and the side-effects of drugs and cosmetics, and will no doubt be equally valuable to workers in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

…………The second edition is clearly easier to use, and efficiently updated, from the first. My judgment is that this edition will serve so many masters so well that the authors will have the opportunity of innovating further in the 3rd edition. The readers of this journal involved in patch testing of suspected adverse reactions to drugs and cosmetics will find this a powerful key to enter the field.
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology 1985;10:597
The second edition of this book, following so quickly in the footsteps of the first, is an amazing achievement. The first edition received wide acclaim as the most useful and practical contribution to contact dermatitis. This second edition excels even the brilliance of the first ……. A practicing dermatologist requires this book in his department. As a reference book it stands as a tribute to the authors and will remain so for a long time.
